With its picturesque views and wide open spaces, the State Arboretum of Virginia at Blandy Experimental Farm is a unique and beautiful setting for weddings and receptions.  Choose from two lovely areas that provide a natural outdoor venue for your special day.

The Ceremony
Margaret Byrd Stimpson Amphitheater
Margaret Byrd Stimpson Amphitheater

The Margaret Byrd Stimpson Amphitheater - The amphitheater is located northwest of the Quarters building and is our largest outdoor venue, accommodating groups up to 200.  It is surrounded by beautiful hand crafted, stone walls and shielded by an evergreen forest.  This venue is our most popular site for weddings and is also used for concerts, educational activities and other large events.  Electricity is available.
The Native Plant Trail
The Nancy Larrick Crosby Native Plant Trail
The Nancy Larrick Crosby Native Plant Trail - This serene venue is nestled southeast of the Quarters building, just off Dogwood Lane.  It is an open grassy area near the upper section of the Woodland portion of the Native Plant Trail, accommodating 50 to 70.  This garden setting is used for weddings, picnics and educational activities.
The Reception

The Quarters
The Quarters
Quarter’s Courtyard - The courtyard is surrounded by the Historic Quarters Building and offers a scenic view of the terraced landscape near Lake Georgette.  This venue is used for tented wedding receptions, galas and other events.  Limited electricity is available.

Tented receptions may be held in the Quarter’s Courtyard.  All tent rentals must be arranged by the user from an approved rental company (see Wedding Regulations and Approved Vendor List). If the user has booked both a wedding and a reception at Blandy and it rains on the day of the event, the wedding ceremony may be moved into the reception tent. The number of reception guests is limited to no more than 120 people.  A tent, no larger than 30x60 may be used for weddings/receptions and must be set up in the Quarters courtyard.
